Message	best way I found to do this was set the gap at about 3mm and then install the tensioner and make sure it is tight against the belt by putting pressure on the mounting bracket. Once it is tightened down I took a flat head and slowly helped the tensioner out. Dont force it and just take your time and give the tension arm a LITTLE nudge it will slowly work its way out to around 4mm.
